Natural Art Furniture — Handcrafted Live-Edge & Burl Furniture in Nairobi, Kenya

Natural Art Furniture is a small, family-run workshop on Ngong Road in Nairobi. We design and build one-of-one tables, chairs, sideboards, root consoles and sculptural pieces from solid indigenous Kenyan hardwoods — mahogany, cedar, mvule, olive, reclaimed camphor and dense burl. Every piece is shaped by hand from a single slab. No veneers, no MDF, no two pieces alike.

Furniture that remembers the tree

Mass-produced furniture is engineered to disappear into a room. Ours is engineered to be the room. Live edges, twisted roots and burl grain — what the factory rejects, we celebrate. Every piece is signed, dated and named. Most take three to eight weeks from commission to delivery. None of them will exist anywhere else in the world.

Hand-built from solid Kenyan hardwoods

We work exclusively with solid indigenous timber, much of it milled from a single tree so the grain story stays continuous. The slabs rest in our yard for months, are hand-finished with natural oils and waxes, and leave the workshop with a maker's mark burned into the underside. We serve clients across Nairobi — Karen, Lavington, Runda, Kilimani, Westlands, Kileleshwa, Spring Valley, Muthaiga — and ship larger pieces throughout Kenya and East Africa.

What we make

Live-edge dining tables and benches, burl coffee tables and side tables, single-slab desks and boardroom tables, root and stump consoles, hand-shaped lounge and dining chairs, full bedroom sets, sideboards, vanities and bespoke sculptural commissions. Browse the current collection of finished pieces on the Art Pieces page or commission something specific to your home, office or hospitality space.

Custom commissions

Most of our work is made to commission. Tell us about the room, the wood you love and the way you live — we sketch options, mill a matching slab and deliver in three to eight weeks. Reference images are welcome. Every commission begins with a conversation, either at the workshop or by WhatsApp, and ends with a piece you'll pass on.

The workshop is open Monday to Saturday by appointment. Come walk among the slabs, meet the makers and trace your fingers along the grain of a piece in progress. We can also bring slab samples and finish boards to your home or office anywhere in greater Nairobi.
